How do I apply for entrance scholarships, grants, bursaries, or awards?

Canadian Students

Thank you for your interest in the University of Guelph! All of our entrance scholarships are awarded to students entering post-secondary studies for the first time and are based on the student?s final admission average for those students entering a degree program at the University of Guelph. Applications are not normally required. For a complete listing of the entrance awards we offer and their criteria, consult the latest edition of the Undergraduate Calendar.

The University of Guelph's most prestigious scholarships include the President's Scholarships and the Lincoln Alexander Chancellor's Scholarships. Students that meet the criteria for eligibility are encouraged to apply online.

Bursaries are awards based entirely on financial need. Students entering an undergraduate program can apply for an entrance bursary by completing the online application, "Entrance Financial Need Assessment Form", by April 15. Students do not have to have an offer of admission to apply, but they must have an application to an undergraduate program on file at the time of application.

In-course students should submit a Need Assessment Form online. Undergraduate and diploma in-course student bursaries have an October 7 deadline for students registering in both the Fall and Winter semesters. Students registering only for the Fall semester can apply in August.

Graduate student in-course bursaries have a January 10 deadline for students registering in both the Fall and Winter semesters. Students registering only for the Fall semester can apply in August.

International Students

Thank you for your interest in the University of Guelph. The University offers a limited number of International Student Entrance Scholarships to students entering post-secondary studies for the first time and registering in the first semester of a degree program in the fall semester. Read more about eligibility and the value of these scholarships. They do not require an application. Scholarship recipients are selected from a very competitive group of admission applicants, based on high academic excellence. Please contact Admission Services at the University of Guelph to inquire about admission requirements and application forms or visit the Admission Information for International Students webpage.

The Dr. Franco J. Vaccarino President's Scholarship is the University of Guelph's most prestigious undergraduate entrance award for international students. One scholarship is awarded each year to the top international student. An application is required.

Unfortunately, the University does not offer full scholarships and is unable to provide assistance with the admission application fee, transportation, or other costs at the current time. It will be necessary for you to locate an alternative source of funding for your post-secondary studies.

Best wishes with your studies!
