How do I complete a Course Waiver Request form?

The Course Waiver Request form is used in five different circumstances:

  1. When a student is attempting to register for a course for which they have not completed the required prerequisites, they need to complete and have signed the Course Waiver Request form.
  2. When a student is attempting to register for a course that has been restricted to students in a specific program and they are not registered in that program, they need to complete and have signed the Course Waiver Request form.
  3. When a student is attempting to register for a course that is full, they need to complete and have signed the Course Waiver Request form under Section Overload.
  4. When a student is attempting to register for a course that requires the instructor's approval, they need to complete and have signed the Course Waiver Request form under Instructor Consent.
  5. When a student is attempting to register (or re-register) for a course after the specified last day to register for a given semester, they need to complete and have signed the Course Waiver Request form under Late Add.

For students on the Guelph campus, download the appropriate form: Course Waiver Request Form for undergraduate/diploma students or Course Waiver Request Form for graduate students. Please email the completed form, including required signatures, to es@uoguelph.ca.

*Please note that the instructor is not obligated to sign the Course Waiver Request and that they do so at their discretion.*

If you are requesting a credit overload (to take more courses in a semester than normally allowed for your program), please contact your Program Counsellor. The Course Waiver Request form is no longer required.
