What is Work Study?

The aim of the Work Study program is to help students with financial need meet their education costs and develop valuable transferrable employability knowledge, skills and attitudes through part-time work on campus during the academic year. More details can be found on the Work Study website.

Who is eligible to apply for Work Study?

Students must have a demonstrated financial need. Eligible undergraduate students must maintain a minimum semester credit weight of 1.50 credits (60% of a full-time course load) and graduate students must be registered in full-time studies throughout their Work Study period.

Can a Work Study student have more than one Work Study position?

No.

How and where do I apply?

Students must apply to Student Financial Services by submitting a Financial Need Assessment Form. Financial Need Assessment Forms and Work Study job postings are usually available and posted two weeks before the start of each semester. Refer to the application deadline dates. The form can be printed from the 'Forms/Documents' page or can be picked up from the office. Completed applications can be dropped in the red drop boxes just inside the gates of the Office of Registrarial Services on the 3rd Floor of the University Centre.

I am an International student. How can I apply for Work Study?

International Students may apply for the Work Study Program. To be eligible for the program, students must demonstrate financial need and must be enrolled in a minimum of 1.50 credits. Please note that the positions are limited and allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

When would I find out if I qualify?

Within 5 - 10 working days, you will be notified by email of your eligibility to participate in the Work Study program.

Once approved for Work Study, am I guaranteed a job?

No, there are no guarantees. You must apply for positions posted on Experience Guelph. Your employment is subject to the employer finding your skills, experience and knowledge acceptable for the position.
