Can I get directions to the University of Guelph?

Getting to Guelph is easy!  The city and University of Guelph are located about 90 km west and slightly north of Toronto. To visit us, just follow these directions, or follow the map links provided. We've also provided a handy link to help you find accommodations during your stay.

Directions:

Travel by car from the East & South (including Toronto):
(For directions from Lester B. Pearson International Airport, see below)
Take 401 Westbound to Exit #299. Take Northbound Hwy 46 (Brock Road) approximately 12 km into Guelph. Brock Road becomes Gordon Street. The campus becomes visible at the intersection of Gordon Street and Stone Road. Proceeding through this intersection, visitors should turn right onto South Ring Road. Parking Lot 31 is to the right (enter at the parking attendant kiosk). The University Centre is immediately to the North.

Travel by car from the West (including Detroit, Windsor, London):

Take Hwy 401 Eastbound to Exit #295. Take Hwy 6 northbound to Stone Road and turn right. The campus becomes visible at the intersection of Gordon Street & Stone Road. Proceeding through this intersection, visitors should turn left into the main University entrance, left on to the South Ring Road and immediately left to Parking Lot 31 (enter at for the parking attendant kiosk). The University Centre is immediately to the North.

Travel by car from the North:

Take Highway 6 Southbound to Guelph. Highway 6 turns into Woolwich Street when it crosses Woodlawn Road at the north end of the city. Continuing south on Woolwich, the street will briefly change names from Norfolk and then Gordon Street. Continue to drive south on Gordon Street (past Wellington Street) through the intersection with College Ave. Turn left on to South Ring Road at the lights (immediately before Stone Road). Parking Lot 31 is to the right (enter at the parking attendant kiosk). The University Centre is immediately to the North.

Is there a city-wide bus system?

Guelph Transit provides transportation throughout the City of Guelph. Some of the bus routes stop on campus; these stops are located in the bus loop in front of the University Centre.

Public Transit to the University

The University is also serviced from the Toronto area and other parts of the GTA and Ontario by GO Transit.

What modes of transportation are best around Guelph?

Walking and biking are the easiest and least expensive modes of transportation in Guelph. The University campus, downtown area, and student residences are all quite close together. Getting around Guelph by bus is relatively simple. As a U of G student, a bus pass is included in your student fees. You can ride unlimited to anywhere the city bus system runs. The student bus pass is administered by the Central Student Association (CSA) and Graduate Students' Association (GSA). Visit the CSA website or GSA website for more information.
